Another one about old media x new media

Blogging is indeed a fascinating exercise. You start following one blog, then are taking to another, then eventually you bump into what it seems to be the most bizarre of blog titles in someone else’s blog quoting another person’s post. It is viral, it is here, it is now!!! People are doing it and are being influenced by writings from those specialists who initially laid it all out.
David Meerman Scott (one of these specialists) reported about another blogger’s post starting with “Please forgive the gratuitous headline but I couldn’t resist”. The original post comes from Dr. Helaine Smith’s blog, a dental practitioner from Boston, Massachusetts, who’s just written an e-book on the relationship between dental health and healthy sex?!?
I just wonder how many people will be downloading the book? You never know!!! She is straightforward to declare that people generally do not put two and two together, a healthy mouth with sex life. She passionately believes that there is indeed one, and she goes on to explain that connection in her book.
She finishes saying “Download your copy of “Healthy Mouth, Healthy Sex!“, forward it to friends, and post it on your blog. It’s great information everyone should have — whether you’re 18 years old or 65 years old”.

And what’s so interesting about an ebook like this is that bloggers like you and me happily write about it.
Cheers, David

I nearly feel a bit honoured to be commenting after David Meerman Scott, but then again, it’s a small (blog) world.
As you know very well, Anderson, we came to the conclusion on our SEO presentation that printed media will continue to exist, but in another shape than today.
Even though you can read what ever you want for free on the web, it’s still better to read a newspaper or book made in hardcover, and not 387 loose sheets.
You must agree, that even though things are free, the real deal is better?

You can map out communications tools on two scales: speed and reflectiveness. What’s interesting is that blogs are now longer seen as a fast communications tool, but rather one with a unique trade-off between speed and reflectiveness. Books of course are well-considered, but very slow and lacking in interactivity.
I’m ready Clay Shirky’s Here Comes Everybody. It’s about social media, but it’s a thoughtful book. Excellent.

Fact that you can download for free is an advantage, but I don’t think that there is a winner or a loser in this battale. It is all about coexistece.
